Poetry is Art

Till Lemons Fall, my poetry book about my past I finally finished writing it, after my 4th draft. Now it'll be seen by the eyes a wonderful friend to edit it. I'm so excited for this book it's a long time coming! I really hope it will bring answers to the people who ask me, why do you stay in an abusive relationship? This book is my personal answer.

Here is the opening poem of my book, I hope you all enjoy how much I put into this book that was 15 years in the making.

Let’s Be Honest

Written by Debra Slonim

Swinging through

The mid-section

Of Lapalma ave

I'm reeling

From

THE LIST:

Stacked,

Unlabeled,

Packages,

Building up

And getting bagged,

Before I can check them

A mental

Kaleidoscope

Of extra

Non important

Details,

Rising into a

Flutter

Bits of knowledge

Bursting in the form

Of expanding wings

Stability

With

Wings

Is

Tricky

They do not open

With soft touch

Or

Even

Repetition

They open

When

You

Are

honest

Honest

HONEST
